The context

Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care System (ICS) is seen as the most innovative, high profile and impactful health and social care partnership in country. Colleagues from a diverse range of sectors are working together to integrate services around our residents, patients and communities. We have an ambitious set of plans to address people’s health and wellbeing, making sure that we can support them in the most outstanding clinical settings but also ensure that we have excellent prevention and early intervention programmes to stop needs escalating to acute settings.

We are passionate about the power of collaboration in addressing the determinants of poor health and reducing the inequalities that exist in our County. Disruptive, joined up thinking requires new shaped roles to articulate and direct it, empowering individuals to deliver the aspirations of our new organisation reflected in our products and services, designed around the needs of our citizens. This joined up approach is critical to helping us find solutions for some of the big problems facing society and our County today, including how to provide better care for the vulnerable and those most in need, against the backdrop of financial constraints and ever growing demand and expectations of health and social care services.

The opportunity

This is a pivotal role for the ICS. You will lead a coordinated approach to workforce development and transformation across the Surrey Heartlands partners. This is far from business as usual. Working strategically across health and social care you will be influencing, networking, guiding and nudging to deliver a pioneering workforce vision for the future. You will ensure the delivery of a single workforce framework, plan and delivery model for the system. Aspirations are high and you will innovate and find opportunities to implement world class best practice approaches to workforce. Working with other senior leaders across the partnership, your impact will be crucial to fostering a ‘one team’ ethos. You will have some dedicated support, however the aspiration for the role is to maximise and focus the available people and resource across the health and social care system around the key priority areas, moving to single teams (either physically or virtually) where possible and appropriate.
