We are seeking a licensing officer to lead in the delivery of a wide range of licensing functions.  These include those under the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, those relating to the licensing of Taxis and Private Hire Vehicles, Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, and a range of consents for street trading, charitable collections and sex establishments. 

You will be responsible for supervising a team of licensing officers, providing them with guidance and support as well as managing your own workload to ensure that our functions are delivered efficiently and in accordance with the Council’s policies and procedure.

You will need to be able demonstrate extensive experience and understanding of the key pieces of legislation and of licensing principles.  You will also write and present reports to licensing committees and undertake associated regulatory and enforcement activities as necessary.

Chelmsford City Council currently provides the licensing functions for Maldon District Council and the lead officer will be responsible for assisting in maintaining the efficient delivery of this contract.
