Fostering
The Fostering Service recruit, assess, support and develop foster carers and Supported Lodging carers. The Teams match children to families and provide continual support. Placement support is a real strength across the fostering service, as it strives to achieve permanence and the very best outcomes for the children in care in Essex. This is an exciting time within the Fostering Service as there are many new developments taking place and it is a great opportunity to be part of a supportive and dedicated team.
Job Purpose SummaryAs a Supervising Social Worker, you will be working with foster carers / Supported Lodging carers and their families to support and develop them in caring for vulnerable looked after children, in accordance with the Fostering Regulations 2011 and the National Minimum Standards of Fostering. You will be managing a defined caseload and will be working closely with other teams such as the Children in Care, Leaving and After Care, Children with Disabilities, Assessment & Intervention and the Family Support and Protection Teams.
What you'll need to join our Fostering team
The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wide operational area including travelling around the county of Essex and beyond, transporting service users and to be able to do so in an emergency. Driving licence and car or ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means is essential.
Qualification certificates must be brought to interview.
As part of employment with Essex County Council your role requires a DBS check and you will be required to register with the DBS update service. The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate. This is an annual subscription and you will be responsible for ensuring this is maintained.
