Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council’s Urban Design & Building Services team is looking to employ a permanent principal lead quantity surveyor. You will be working alongside a creative, innovative, multi-disciplinary and self-motivated team of 68 professionals comprising architects, landscape architects, structural engineers, building surveyors, property surveyors, mechanical and electrical engineers and associated co-ordination staff.

You will be required to lead and take management responsibility for delivering construction related quantity surveying services to multiple areas of the council, managing people and other resources in order to deliver priorities and objectives of the council’s ‘Vision 2030 Sandwell’ commitments. You will also be required to identify and develop business opportunities ensuring commercial best value.

You will lead a team comprising of 1 chartered QS, 2 none chartered QS’s, 1 trainee QS, 3 clerks of works, 2 finance officers and 2 FM management officers. Urban Design & Building Services deliver a full range of construction related services on a variety of new build, re-modelling and refurbishment projects on behalf of the council’s internal and external clients, including housing, education, leisure and adult services schemes ranging from £10k to £15m.

This current vacancy is available to a suitably qualified person.  The minimum requirement is you must be a chartered quantity surveyor with either MRICS or FRICS or educated to relevant degree standard with a minimum of 5 years’ post qualification experience of working within a complex environment and must commit to obtain chartered status of the RICS within a reasonable period of time after appointment.
