We’re Kirklees…………….are you?

We’re looking for a Passenger Assistant Supervisor to join our team. You’ll be a people person who is good at building relationships, supervising and supporting our team of Passenger Assistants, in an adaptable and approachable way.  You will be required to make decisions and give direction to Passenger Assistants to enable them to look after our service users and keep them safe.

You will have supervised and supported staff in previous roles and will have the knowledge and experience of supporting and caring for children with special educational needs and disabilities attending to their personal, physical and medical needs. You will be a multitasker who enjoys working in a fast paced, demanding environment where you think on your feet. You will carry out both vehicle inspections and service quality monitoring inspections to ensure we are providing a high standard of service. You will ensure that our team are working to policies and regulations including Health and Safety and Safeguarding and that the vehicles provided by independent transport operators are compliant with contractual and road transport regulations.

We provide escorted transport for 850 pupils with special educational needs and disabilities to schools within Kirklees and beyond, 2,400 bus passes and boarding cards, transport for older people to day care and other provisions for after school clubs and short breaks/respite.

You will be required to work flexibly in accordance with the needs of the service and will be required to travel on vehicles as required, which can mean early start times of 7am (approx) and late finish times of 6pm (approx).

Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time.  It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving license and it is expected that you will either use a council vehicle or your own car. (Exceptions can be made for disabled applicants).

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required for this job.  A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
