Job Details

The Landlord Service is pivotal to help our citizens living in Camden’s homes to have secure, safe and affordable housing that meets their ongoing needs and provide help and assistance to them when they need it.

This role involves management of the Housing Rents service including all systems, functions and processes. You will be responsible for providing outstanding leadership to direct reports and team members to provide a first class rent management and financial inclusion services to Camden tenants. The post holder would also work within the strategic service plan objectives, legal obligations and budgetary/expenditure limits as well as work closely with other teams and services across the Council and external agencies to provide high quality innovative services.

To succeed in this role, you will have experience of leading in the effective management and delivery of a comprehensive rent collection and maximisation service, ensuring value for money and that excellent standards of customer care are maintained at all times.

You will also act as the lead contact for the District Management Committee (DMT) which includes preparing reports, managing budgets and attending meetings.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Standard DBS.

About You

To be considered for this exciting opportunity is is essential the successful candidate is educated to degree level and holds the relevant CCAB qualification or possesses substantial equivalent experience including leading a rent/service charge team.

The successful candidate will be self-managing, troubleshoot to overcome obstacles and have proven experience of working effectively with a commitment to service delivery and total quality management across the organisation as a whole should also be demonstrable. You will oversee day to day management of the Rent Support team taking responsibility for reliable management information to include monthly management information, weekly/monthly forecasting, assistance in year-end preparation, liaising with external auditors, control of all financial processes within the department.

You will maintain and develop systems to ensure our residents receive a value for money service.  You will be responsible for annual rent and service charge administration, review and reconciliation processes as well as the organisational strategic lead in ensuring income is maximised. As the strategic lead for the team, you will be a housing professional with direct experience of rent and service charges.  A proven leader, you will be the driver for shaping this function and developing team members.

You will have excellent people management skills as well as influencing and interpersonal skills.  You will be a forward thinker who thrives in an environment of change and who likes to inform and develop new systems of working.Demonstrable management experience is essential as you will be responsible for managing a team of up to 10 direct reports to ensure an effective service is delivered and it is expected that the post holder will provide managerial support to staff across the wider landlord function as required and deputise as appropriate.

You will be confident in relationship management as you will build capabilities; enabling staff to perform to a high standard, working closely with officers and other colleagues to meet resident demands effectively.
