The Opportunity:
Essex County Council (ECC) is developing a pioneering new Early Intervention model as part of a transformational shift which focusses on prevention and enablement. We are looking for innovative Social Workers to join this new team and who want the chance to develop their career in one of the largest and most dynamic local authorities in the UK.

The Role:
This is a community-based role with a 'hub' in either Colchester or Braintree. You will become a partner of the local community in which our residents live; connecting Adults to their community and working with universal services.
Becoming an expert in the services within the local community and an advocate for promoting strengths, you will work exclusively with Adults who have a learning disability and/or Autism and their carers. As a social worker in the team you will lead on practice in addition to supporting other practitioners.

A can-do attitude is a must, you will be passionate about person centred work and supporting adults to maximise their independence and achieve person centred outcomes. Openness to innovation is integral to this work, you will need to think outside the box and identify new ways of working and supporting others.
You will be working collaboratively with Statutory and non-statutory organisations, excellent communication skills are essential for this role.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Educated to degree level i.e. Diploma or degree in social work, CQSW, CSS or equivalent. Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a registered social worker.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and demonstrable capability of practice in accordance with current professional standards e.g. professional capability framework, knowledge and skills statement.
  • Experience within a social care setting with evidence of challenging social and family situations.
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to develop a rapport and engage with diverse groups of individuals.
  • Developing strong relationships with partners, other agencies and the local community to achieve joint objectives and offer a supportive framework for children and vulnerable adults.
  • Understand the financial implications of care packages commissioned
  • Evidence of clear decision making in order to highlight and limit the potential risks associated with intervention.
As part of employment with Essex County Council (ECC) should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service. The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate.
