Transport Services is responsible for all aspects of transport and related services including, procurement, maintenance and disposal on behalf of the Council. Transport services currently have a fleet size of approximately 800 vehicles ranging from small light commercials to large heavy goods refuse vehicles.  Transport Services operate from three vehicle repair facilities across Kirklees.

You will carry out vehicle inspections, servicing, maintenance and repairs to vehicles and plants operated by Kirklees Council in line with DVSA standards. You will be expected to work at Vine Street Depot in Huddersfield and occasionally to travel to Dewsbury.

This work is on a two weekly rotational schedule. You will be expected to work during Week 1 on Monday to Thursday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm and on Friday from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm. During Week 2 you will be expected to work Monday to Thursday from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Friday from 1:00 pm to 6:30 pm.

Requirements for this job:

• Experience in the servicing and maintenance of light commercial and HGV vehicles to DVSA standards, with extensive post apprenticeship experience.
• Possession of HGV licence or willingness to undertake training to obtain.
• City & Guilds/NVQ level 3 in Motor Vehicle.
• Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety legislation as it relates to the workshop environment.
• Willingness to work at various locations within Kirklees areas.
