The Youth and Community Manager is a new and exciting role with the opportunity to deliver a bespoke youth service in line with a new direction for youth and community work in Dunstable.

As Youth and Community Manager you will lead in the development and delivery of a range of services targeting young people from the council’s youth facility Grove Corner and other community settings.

You will develop and deliver community projects that contribute to the creation of place identity and social regeneration across communities. In addition, you will develop the Council’s approach to supporting the voluntary sector and administer the Council’s Service Level Agreements for voluntary and community organisations.

Your role will also involve:

  • Managing the Council’s low dependency elderly day care services
  • Assisting in identifying and delivering upon community development opportunities across all Council Services
  • Managing associated budgets

As part of your role, you will be required to undertake up to 10 hours of youth and community contact work during the weekday evenings and at some weekends. Please note: the ability and willingness to do this will form a key element of the eligibility criteria for this role.

About You

To be considered for the Youth and Community Manager post, you will need:

  • Youth and Community JNC degree or postgraduate professional qualification.
  • Significant experience of managing services targeted at young people and the community
  • Knowledge of legislation relating to the delivery of services to young and older people and legislation regarding the protection of vulnerable adults and children.
  • The ability to provide management to a multi-disciplinary team and ability to motivate and empower others with excellent people management skills
