About us

At Essex County Council, what we do impacts the lives of over 1.4 million residents. We work hard to meet our residents' needs - from protecting vulnerable children, to helping older residents remain independent; from improving quality of life through better public health, to unlocking economic opportunities across our towns and cities. We need to take decisions based on high-quality insights and be disciplined in the way we track our progress and performance. Our brand-new Performance & Business Intelligence group will help us do this and so much more.

About you

As a Business Partner focused on Performance and Intelligence, you will work alongside one of the council's key business areas - Adult Social Care, Children Services, Place & Public Health, or our corporate functions - putting in place the tools to help senior leaders understand their progress and performance against strategic priorities. You will provide insights to help them understand their business and constructive challenge to help inform strategic and operational decisions.

You'll lead a team of analysts, performance officers and developers, making sure that high-quality reporting and analysis inspires the best conversations, the right decisions and the most productive action. You will be responsible for the provision of effective data and will be an advocate for the use of evidence in decision-making.

Getting this group up and running is incredibly important. To be an influential voice, you'll bring a significant track record of providing high quality insight with impact in a large, complex organisation.

In return, you can look forward to an excellent rewards package, as well as flexible working and long-term career opportunities.

We're looking for experience of implementing effective performance management frameworks, as well as a proven background of providing intelligence to shape decisions within a large complex organisation.
