With its thriving villages and market towns, beautiful countryside and heritage attractions, it’s not hard to see why Wychavon district was recently named the best place to live in the West Midlands*. At Wychavon District Council, we have ambitious plans to make our place even better. We have a joint Chief Executive (who also looks after Malvern Hills District Council) and a shared management team, but we retain our own political structure and distinct identity. We’re an entrepreneurial, innovative council. We’ve built a hospital and a supermarket, regenerated our heritage assets, and supported initiatives to develop our local economy. Future plans include building small business units and homes for rent. So there’s plenty to keep you busy.
This is an exceptional career development opportunity, and the perfect role for a talented public service leader with ambition. As well as being the council’s s.151 officer and deputising for our new joint Chief Executive you’ll lead a range of business-critical services. These include major projects, property, strategy, IT, HR & OD and communications. Candidates need exceptional professional knowledge, insight and leadership qualities, and are likely to have wide experience in local government. A qualified accountant, you must have a track record of leading successful, effective public services with high levels of customer satisfaction, and strong candidates will additionally bring a sophisticated grasp of development.
