At Westminster, we are passionate about the place and the people who live, work and visit here. We are home to more than 250,000 residents, 50,000 business, and 28.5m people visit Westminster every year. Westminster hosts some of the most vibrant communities in London which creates a place that is incredibly diverse, rich with culture, character and opportunity. Our City for All vision is simply to provide world class services to the residents and communities we serve.

Following a review of the Council’s property functions and subsequent internal reorganisation, we have moved to a corporately coordinated model. We are now seeking an outstanding property professional to provide leadership and direction for the provision of property services and strategic estate management, taking forward service transformation and ensuring excellent joint working with Members, partners and other stakeholders.

You need to work in collaboration with other services in the Council and to develop strategies and plans that ensure that the property estate is aligned with service priorities and supports the Council’s City for All objectives. Key to this will be your leadership in developing property’s contribution to the Council’s Climate Change agenda and target to be carbon neutral by 2030.

Westminster is a significant landowner in an area with some of the most strategic and expensive real estate in the country. As this post takes corporate responsibility the Council’s property estate, ensuring that income from its commercial properties is maximised, you will need to have the professional stature and ability to form and build on existing strategic partnerships and collaborations with other landowners, developers and public sector organisations in taking forward development and regeneration proposals.

Wide experience within the public or private sectors, evidenced by a track record of success, leading and developing a significant property function or service in a large multi-disciplined organisation with comparable scope, budgets and resources. Knowledge of the commercial and occupational property sector, including benchmark returns for asset classes, experience of operational and investment portfolio management and performance management across these sectors.

This is a senior role within the Council and so the key to the success will be leadership, engagement and communication skills with internal teams, senior managers and councillors and a wide range of other bodies, such as partner organisations, communities, public agencies and statutory bodies.
