And when you join us, you could be at the heart of this fascinating work.

We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to determine the capital maintenance and minor project requirements across both the core and school's estate, developing the brief, engaging with designers and contractors throughout to ensure compliance with specifications, statutory requirements and best practice.

You will be responsible for collecting and maintaining condition data, providing advice during the pre-tender period on the implications of any Value Engineering and/or specification decisions, reviewing contractor's operational compliance with H&S legislation and KPI's and highlighting and addressing instances of non-compliance through the appropriate channels.

Working in collaboration with the Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for the initial assessment of bids for emergency reactive works (RMAs), making recommendations where appropriate and delivering detailed inspections prior to practical or sectional completion.

Educated to degree level in Building Surveying or a similar field, you will have successfully performed in a similar role, delivering programmes of projects across a broad portfolio of buildings, using your analytical and problem-solving skills.
You will bring with you a deep and practical understanding of current construction and engineering standards, statutory provisions, building regulations, construction contract principles, processes and procedures. You will have experience of working within a large, complex environment like a Local Authority.

You will have experience of working with a diverse range of individuals at varying levels, engaging with them, finding ways to overcome obstacles, whilst also highlighting your strong leadership and behavioural skills, with the ability to influence and motivate professional staff, building diverse teams, to achieve shared objectives.

In turn, we can offer you a highly competitive package that includes access to our desirable pension scheme, life assurance (of three times your salary), generous annual leave - plus the option to buy additional holiday. Optional benefits such as tax-free savings on childcare and discounted health and dental care are also available, and we will encourage you to develop your skills with ongoing training opportunities.

Crucially, we know that there is more to life than work. We are a motivated and enthusiastic team - but we want you to find an exceptional work/life balance. As such, you will be encouraged to make the most of our commitment to flexible working arrangements, including the chance to work from home. So if you want a better quality of life - complemented by a high degree of job satisfaction - then we would be delighted to welcome you to our friendly and inclusive team.
