Here at North Yorkshire County Council our Technology and Change Department plays a vital part in improving and developing services across the whole Council for the benefit of our customers and staff. This means that our department is at the heart of exciting transformational change projects such as service re-design, digital and innovation, working with core public services across North Yorkshire including libraries, transport, health and social care and children’s services.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager at Level 1 to join our team as we prepare to deliver the next phase of transformation in North Yorkshire.

As a Project Manager you will lead on the planning and implementation of designated projects and ensure they are delivered on time and within budget. You will work closely with the project sponsor, the project board and senior service area managers to ensure that there is a robust business case for change, and then to plan and deliver strategically important Council projects.

You will lead multi-disciplinary project teams throughout the lifecycle of agreed projects, planning and monitoring activity across a number of inter-related work streams to ensure successful delivery within cost, time and quality requirements. It will be your responsibility to secure and manage project resources from across the organisation, and to manage project activity on a daily basis, using the Council’s established project management methodology.

Level 1 Project Managers hold a diverse portfolio of projects, with recent examples including working as part of the team managing a high-profile national programme around Children’s Social Care practice; delivering a pilot testing new technology with vulnerable residents from a coastal community to support improved independence with daily living; and implementing new data tools to support improvements in waste and recycling services.

To be successful in this role you will need to have knowledge and experience of project management techniques and tools, strong managerial skills and leadership qualities. You will have a relevant degree and/or equivalent experience, and where possible, professional training in recognised project management methodologies. You will have experience of successfully managing stakeholders and resources to deliver organisational change. For a detailed outline of the role please see attached the job specification.
