City of York Council are seeking to recruit Highways Roadworkers to join our growing and ambitious team that delivers a variety of Highways and Transport Projects.

The successful applicant will play a key role in the delivery of a variety of works to highways, footways, major transport projects schemes as well as the maintenance of York’s road and drainage infrastructure.

You will be able to provide input into the practical aspects of scheme delivery and hold good communication skills when engaging with members of the public.

You will have some experience in assisting in delivering civil engineering projects.

You will preferably hold a LGV Licence.

You will be keen to progress and grow as a professional, and to deliver projects for the City of York.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level B2: Can adjust to the changes of direction, style and emphasis normally found in conversation.  Can produce stretches of language with a fairly even tempo; although he/she can be hesitant as he or she searches for patterns and expressions, there are few noticeably long pauses.

This post is based out of Hazel Court, Eco Depot, however, will work from a number of sites and locations across the city.
