Job Details
We have a rare opportunity for a senior legal officer to join our social services team.
The role will be temporary for 12 months and will focus predominantly adult social care matters, in particular, managing a caseload of proceedings under the Mental Capacity Act. The post holder will be required to represent the council in relation to proceedings under the Mental Health Act, as well as welfare proceedings under the Mental Capacity Act.
The post holder will also advise on issues such as ordinary residence, duties under the Care Act and also duties in relation to deprivation of liberty.
Applicants must be either a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, a newly qualified solicitor or barrister, or a person who can show a demonstrable level of knowledge gained by considerable practical experience.
There is an expectation that the successful candidate will be able to work with minimal supervision and be able to prioritise their workload to meet the changing demands within the team.
If you have a background in adult social care law, we would be delighted to hear from you.
