We are looking for an experienced lawyer, Solicitor or Barrister who can join our supportive team to provide legal support regarding adult social care to other clients on behalf of North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC).  This role will include advising on all aspects of adult social care including mental capacity and best interests, safeguarding vulnerable adults, deprivation of liberty, financial assessments and charging, ordinary residence and mental health.

Ideally, you will have specific experience in adult social care, as well as excellent communication, analytical and drafting skills, be able to manage a full caseload and provide practical legal advice and support on both operational and strategic matters.  The role requires a person with enthusiasm, commitment and a motivation to deliver an excellent service on behalf of NYCC.

You must hold a Solicitor, Barrister or equivalent qualification, be able to demonstrate knowledge of law in main subject area of responsibility and have significant experience of legal work in main subject of responsibility. You must also have the ability to interact positively with colleagues, clients and elected Members.

The Legal Service is part of Legal and Democratic Services (‘LDS’) within the Chief Executive’s Group. NYCC provides a range of services to the County of North Yorkshire, and the role of the Legal Service is to support the provision by providing a comprehensive and efficient legal service to the Directorates, the Council’s Executive, full Council, Committees and Members, and external clients.
