We're looking for people who are passionate about IT and technology to join our apprenticeship scheme and develop skills and experience as an IT solutions technician. With Essex County Council, you'll be able to start building a career in IT with excellent support and training, but you'll make a big impact on our services. By making sure our staff have the equipment and technology to do their jobs better than ever before, you'll help us do even more amazing work for the 1.4 million residents of our county.
About the apprenticeship
You'll be welcomed into our small, friendly team as a level 3 apprentice, helping our Technical Services (TS) team deliver IT solutions across all of Essex County Council.
Once you're on the team, you'll receive core training then select one of two different IT streams: hardware and software. As you progress, you'll be assessed according to an agreed development programme and be expected to meet targets in line with your studies and team responsibilities. You'll also be able to move around different departments to broaden your IT experience, including Operations, Technology and Architecture as well as Business Engagement.
By the end of your course, you'll have the chance to progress to a level 4 apprenticeship and develop a potential career path with us.
Our apprenticeships are open to school leavers, but also graduates and people already in work or an IT role.
We're looking for people with a commitment to succeed and a real passion for technology and IT. You'll also need great communication skills and the ability to work well on your own and within a team. You should have a good range of IT skills along with GCSEs in English and Maths.
