Director Regeneration & Strategy

Employer
Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council
Location
Calderdale, West Yorkshire
Salary
£128,419
Closing date
20 Sep 2020

This has been our most challenging year. On February 9th, we experienced our third devastating flood event in 8 years in the Calder Valley, with 695 homes and 572 businesses flooded. Whilst still recovering from that, we went into our response to Covid-19, the greatest challenge for all of us in our careers in public services.

Whilst we continue to respond and recover, we are determined to rebuild, to rediscover our sense of who we are, and instil hope and ambition in our communities. We hold to our Vision for Calderdale for 2024, realising our aspiration to be a place where everyone can reach their potential. A place where talent and enterprise can thrive, a place where our people and communities care for and support each other, a distinctive place. But most of all, we will be defined as a place of resilience and kindness where all our residents can live a larger life.

We are now looking for a special individual who will be absolutely pivotal to our hopes, ambition and strategy. You will lead on our exciting plans for town centre regeneration across the borough, supported by significant funding through the Towns Fund and Future High Streets programmes. You will lead on our ambitious capital programme, reshaping our places to enhance their resilience to future flood risk, developing our work on housing supply and new transport infrastructure. You will deliver on our Inclusive Economy Strategy, working across all sectors and in close collaboration with Leeds City Region and West Yorkshire Combined Authority as our devolution deal develops.

You will support our resilient and creative businesses, founded on two hundred years of industry, with emerging digital capabilities, our housing delivery vehicle and our work to increase housing supply as our Local Plan nears completion.

You will join a thriving Council shortlisted for both ‘Council of the Year’ and ‘Senior Leadership Team’ of the year, joining a talented senior team, leading a highly capable group of colleagues determined to do the best for Calderdale. You will undertake your leadership role in a stable political environment, with political support and aspiration for our borough to rebuild better post Covid-19.

Applications will be considered from proven leaders who can demonstrate an experience of working at a senior level in a related area, and with a proven track record of developing effective local partnerships to deliver vision and organisational outcomes. An effective networker able to demonstrate innovative and imagination is required, as is a colleague committed to equalities and inclusion in all that you do.

To discuss the role please contact Anj Popat (07425 183 357/Anj.Popat@tile-hill.co.uk) or Clare Connor (0161 408 0703/Clare.Connor@tile-hill.co.uk) from Tile Hill who are supporting us with this post.

Closing Date: Sunday, 20th September 2020

Virtual Assessment/Interview: Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th October 2020

Final Interview: Monday, 12th October 2020

As part of our Vision 2024 (https://www.calderdale.gov.uk/vision/) we aim to be a talented, resilient, and inclusive community. We welcome applications from all and offer a variety of flexible working / job share opportunities for both full and part time staff.
