We have already made excellent progress in transforming and improving many aspects of life in the Borough but we have exciting plans to continue our improvement journey. The Borough sits in an excellent location at the foothills of the South Pennines but also only a 15minute train ride from the heart of the City of Manchester.

The new post holder will be a qualified and experienced legal professional with a strong track record of success and whose style of working is commercial, collaborative and innovative. Aligning with our corporate values of ‘Proud, Pioneering and Passionate’ you will have the ability to develop excellent relationships with partners, colleagues and Elected Members and as the Council’s Monitoring Officer take a proactive approach whilst demonstrating resilience and the ability to constructively challenge. Your background is likely to be in Local Government.

The Assistant Director role has breadth of responsibility beyond legal services incorporating Constitutional and Democratic Services, Member Support, Civics and Elections. The role also has oversight of Workforce and Organisational Development but that may change, as we are part way through a review of the roles and responsibilities of our senior team.
