This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join Barnet Education and Learning Skills (BELS) and will be based within the Business Support and Communications Team.
We are looking for an Information Officer who will be the first point of contact for all ‘access to information’ requests. You will take responsibility for co-ordinating the Education response to requests for information received thorough the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Data Protection Act 2018. You will also be responsible for the all complaints received by the Education and Skills Service.
Main responsibilities include maintaining accurate records and systems to monitor our handling of ‘access to information’ requests and complaints. You will be expected to be able to work on your own initiative, identifying the location of the requested information, what the authority holds and what can be released as a result of interpreting the relevant legislation.
It is essential that candidates have experience of dealing with a range of enquiries relating to the ‘access of information’ legislation, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018 and have experience of handling multiple customer enquiries in a timely manner. You will have experience of collating and assessing a large amount of information from a variety of sources, have sound judgement and the ability to relate effectively to staff at all levels within an organisation.
