Head of Public Health (Healthy Child Service)
City of York Council are offering a fantastic opportunity to join our Healthy Child Service. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and experienced service manager to be responsible for the strategic leadership and operational management of the Healthy Child Service.
You will demonstrate strong strategic leadership and a passion for taking forward change.
You will have a proven track record of successfully delivering change in highly complex and politically sensitive environments, together with the planning and delivery of transformation programmes and projects to improve population health and wellbeing.
You will be a highly motivated and proactive individual who is able to work with a range of people including our residents, partner organisations and across all levels within City of York Council to improve the health and wellbeing of our residents and significantly contribute to the reduction of health inequalities for children, young people and families within the City of York.
This important leadership role will provide strategic input and direction into the health and social care system to support and enable the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme.

Specific tasks will be:
To drive strategic development and delivery of new models of care, business cases and detailed implementation plans to support transformation of the service.
To lead development, implementation and delivery of national, regional and local policies relevant to the child public health agenda and the development of local strategic plans and programmes with the organisational authority to deliver key public health targets.
To own the development of clinical and operational pathways/proposals associated with transformation agendas; these pathways should be clinically fit for purpose, operationally sound and brought together through collaborative working.
As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express him/herself spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
