As the largest local authority in the UK, the Property Services team manage a commercial property portfolio comprising around 6,500 individual interests. Birmingham City Council's Property Strategy outlines a clear mission statement to utilise the Council’s land and property assets to stimulate economic activity, attract investment and to create income to support service delivery and provide frontline services to the citizens of Birmingham.

Working predominantly within the Investment Property Management team, the successful applicant will be required to co-ordinate and deliver a wide ranging building surveying service which will include emergency, routine and pre-planned repair and maintenance works, dilapidations, management of statutory maintenance and co-ordinate asset management initiatives. The role will include the supervision and training of two graduate building surveyors who will be seeking Chartered Surveyor status through Property Services' APC training programme.

With a remit to deliver the objectives of a new Property Investment Strategy which will transform the existing portfolio, the role offers applicants the opportunity to join the team at a really exciting time. Providing a range of building surveying support to maintain and improve the fabric of the assets held within the Council's commercial property portfolio, the successful applicant will play a pivotal role in ensuring the future portfolio is well maintained and fit for purpose.
