About the role

Reporting to the Director of Environment & Regeneration and working closely with Members, Corporate Management Team and Partner Agencies, you will lead and shape the Public Protection Division, covering community safety, parking and our trailblazing tri-Borough regulatory services partnership. You will:

  • Lead, shape and transform regulatory and enforcement services alongside other statutory functions that make the Borough safer.
  • Lead the provision and transformation of our in-house parking services in the Borough, harnessing technology to improve efficiency and innovation
  • Deliver leadership to the Safer Merton Partnership, maintaining Merton’s position as one of the safest boroughs in London through effective partnership and corporate working
  • Bring commercial and financial acumen to the Division’s portfolio, creating income generating opportunities and exploring new models of service delivery
  • Provide inspirational leadership of staff, partnerships and projects that secure delivery of Merton’s priorities for residents

About you

In this role you will need to show you are able to bring strategic leadership, operational grip and professional expertise to a complex and broad portfolio of services that carry significant political visibility and contribute to vital organisational priorities.

You will bring a track record of successful leadership of a comparable range of services in complex public sector organisations. You will be able to demonstrate how you have used your expertise to enhance commercial outcomes and achieve transformational impact through the use of technology.  Evidence of the delivery of service improvement and change will be critical.
