Job Details

The coronavirus pandemic has touched every aspect of the work councils do, and we're on the front line as the country recovers. Businesses need support to get back on their feet, schools have reopened for children who have been stuck at home for months, and social care services are helping a growing number of vulnerable residents. Many services will not be the same, so good communications and engagement with residents and staff are more important than ever before.

We’re looking for enthusiastic and dedicated communications professionals to join our team.

You could be a press officer who wants to do more campaigns, or maybe you’re great at social media and want to do more PR. You could even be an internal comms expert who wants to branch out. Regardless of your background, we need someone who can create engaging content for a range of publications and websites, and manage the council’s reputation through the press and social media.

We offer a work environment which is stimulating, fast moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high-profile organisation.

From the world-famous sights of Greenwich town centre in the west, to Thamesmead in the east, from the Greenwich Peninsula in the north to Eltham in the south, our communities are diverse. We want our workforce to reflect and respect this diversity and bring richness, productivity and innovation.

We’re based in Woolwich, but the role will comprise a mix of office and home working.

If you’re ready to be part of our exciting journey, please apply now, or contact us to discuss the job.

Closing Date: 7th October 2020

Royal Borough of Greenwich values the diversity of its community and aims to have a workforce that reflects this. We therefore encourage applications from all sections of the community.

Royal Borough of Greenwich reserves the right to close any vacancy earlier than the advertised closing date should there be a high volume of applications received.

All vacancies close at midnight unless otherwise stated

Each application is scored according to how well the supporting statement addresses each point on the Person Specification for the role. Candidates will be short-listed for interview on the extent to which they meet the specific points within the Person Specification. The Person Specification is supplied with the job advert. When completing your application, please use the supporting statement section to tell us how you meet each of the points on the Person Specification. We need to have this information in order to consider your application. If you have a disability and are unable to meet some of the job requirements specifically because of your disability, please address this in your application. If you meet all the other criteria, you will be shortlisted and we will explore jointly with you if there are ways in which the job can be changed to enable you to meet the requirements.
