As such, we are continuing on an exciting path of transformation in which we have been evolving our working practices and driving value for money - thereby ensuring that our people have the facilities and resources they need to complete their roles to an exceptional standard.

Essex Educational Psychology Service (EEPS) is a highly valued asset within the local area. Serving four geographical areas, our large multidisciplinary team provides a free service to every local authority school and academy. Join us, and you will be at the heart of this work, benefitting from the support of a specialist team that includes Inclusion and Psychology leads, plus numerous specialist colleagues. With the time to work on your own area of expertise, you will take a solutions-oriented focus to delivering results for children and adolescents with mental health needs. And with the full support of our truly progressive department, you will be encouraged to come up with the most creative approaches that will benefit those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and disabilities. With dedicated time to support strategic development around mental health, you will take the lead in your allocated area for any critical incidents, ensuring every child receives the support they need to get the most out of their education.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Soulbury B Senior Educational Psychologist (Youth Offending). This position will be based within the Mid Essex quadrant EP team, whose offices are located in Braintree, and will work for one day per week within the Youth Offending team, who are based in Chelmsford. The successful applicant will complete a team of four Senior EPs (Youth Offending) working in each quadrant of Essex.

The role of the Senior EP (Youth Offending) will be flexible to meet the needs of their local Youth Offending Team as well as the Essex Youth Offending Service, with opportunities for the four Seniors EPs (Youth Offending) to collaborate on developing and delivering training and plan and carry out research projects. Work within the local Youth Offending Team will be diverse, applying psychological theory and practice with the aim of improving the outcomes for those young people working with the Youth Offending Team.
This is a career-defining chance to transform the life outcomes of Essex's children. You will require a BPS recognised degree in Psychology, and a doctorate or a Masters-level degree in Educational Psychology. With a minimum of 2 years of experience of working with children and young people with SEN or disabilities, you will be HCPC registered and you will be eligible for chartered status with the British Psychological Society. You will also have a good knowledge of relevant legislation and evidence-based approaches and interventions.

Your success and wellbeing is central to us at Essex County Council. We know that our people produce their best work when they are happy, and as such, we have shaped a bold People Plan that sets out how we will support you in your professional and personal life. This includes our commitment to provide our staff with exceptional training and development opportunities (including 8 service days), friendly and inclusive workplaces and flexible working patterns.

You will also benefit from:
  • A welcome payment of up to £5000 plus a possible relocation package of up to £8000 (terms and conditions for both payments apply).
  • Money-off high street purchases via the Essex Extras Reward Scheme.
  • Flexible benefits such as the option to purchase additional holiday, plus a lease car scheme.
  • Paid HCPC registration.
