Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion Programme Manager
Are you an experienced Equality, Diversity and Inclusion specialist, looking for the opportunity to lead organisation wide change?
We recognise that not all groups of staff in our organisation progress as far as they wish to or have the same positive experience of working for us. We know that some groups are underrepresented at senior management levels. We’re committed to changing but need support to develop and implement our approach.
You will provide vital leadership to change the organisation to improve the experiences of diverse groups of staff and ensure proportionate representation of all groups at all levels. The role will have a particular focus on Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff in our workforce. You will lead on the development and delivery of an organisation-wide Ethnicity Action Plan (linking closely to the wider ED&I action plan) and will work with the Chief Executive, who is the organisation's Executive Sponsor on race, to scrutinise planned changes and activities and advise on areas on concern. You will also collaborate, challenge and work with senior colleagues to develop a culture of inclusive leadership and accountability across the Councils.
You will have a track record of delivering a diversity and inclusion strategy, including identifying, developing and implementing successful initiatives to improve outcomes including those of BAME staff. You will have in-depth knowledge and understanding of the lived and work experiences of staff based on their protected characteristic(s) and also of the Equality Act 2010 and Public Sector Equality Duty. You will have proven experience of planning, agreeing and successfully implementing programmes of work with clear deliverables using appropriate project management techniques and methodologies.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external colleagues at all levels, including when handling sensitive or contentious issues, and to appropriately challenge colleagues, including those at senior levels. You will also have strong analytical skills including the ability to evaluate and analyse quantitative and qualitative data and draw appropriate conclusions.

This role is fixed term for 18 months.
