This is a once in a generation opportunity to reimagine Slough Borough Council and play an active and pivotal role in modernising the way our council operates. We are looking for aspirational leaders of change, who are committed to leading a positive culture, who bring innovation, and are not afraid of continued growth and challenge. Senior leaders who deliver excellence whilst working collaboratively, to build a world class organisation.

Following the creation of 12 Associate Director posts eight of which have been filled internally we are now looking externally for four Associate Directors; the remit of each will be to work right across the Council as part of a brand-new Leadership team whilst calling upon their own specific areas of specialism with which to build, develop and facilitate their own portfolios:

·     Strategy & Improvement

·     Adult Social Care Operations

·     Finance & Commercial, and

·     Community

As our Associate Director – Finance & Commercial and Deputy 151 Officer you will lead a team of approximately 57 people within the areas of Strategic, Operations and Commercial. An already commercially sound organisation we are looking for someone to scrutinise our regulatory working processes whilst maximising our full potential as a whole including the governance of currently six main Trading Arms. A full review and development of a new robust financial strategy will be a key priority as we continue to invest in a growing Slough including over the next ten years £6.5 billion being spent on regenerating the Town Centre and other further commercial developments at the same time as managing with reduced funding – particularly now whilst we are in a pandemic.

A fully qualified accountant you will preferably have a local government background and be in possession of strong, sound and resilient financial management skillset.

Integral to the success of our significant change and improvement programme you will be a future-focussed visionary able to handle a challenging ever-changing environment whilst inspiring others to join you on our journey.
