An opportunity has arisen for a permanent full-time grade 5 officer in the Education Infrastructure team.

The post will be based within the Education and Early Years Division.

Birmingham City Council is seeking to appoint an experienced Contracts Officer (Financial Management). This is an interesting and varied role that sits within the contract management team. The post holder will work as a finance officer within the Contract management team for this division of the Council function and have a strong input and works closely with a departmental managers.

Key tasks to include but not limited to;

  • Providing contracts management support to all Private Finance Initiative (PFI/PPP) schools contracts.
  • To actively contribute to the appropriate financial management and controls requirements of the PFI contracts providing interrogation into the financial modelling, paymec and performance measurement of the contract.

The Council is looking to appoint a professional accountant, qualified to CMA ACCA or equivalent and associated Professional Membership and or Educated to degree standard in a related discipline or equivalent, and / or be able to demonstrate a proven and extensive understanding of Accounts Management within a Contractual controls and or PFI environment. Previous experience within an Estates and Facilities Management industry would be an advantage.

The role will involve working within a multi-disciplinary environment which will include internal and external contractors, The council's senior leadership and other local authorities and central government departments, schools and academies.
