Service Manager Inclusive Economy and Business Growth

Employer
North Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council
Location
North Tyneside, Tyne and Wear
Salary
£77,500
Closing date

North Tyneside is looking for outstanding leaders to join its ambitious regeneration and economic development team who will shape the future of the Borough and realise the potential of its residents and businesses.

North Tyneside is a great place to live, work and visit, with a range of housing, great schools, strong transport links and a fabulous environment that connects country, river and award-winning coast.  As a Council we already have a track record of success but there is more to be achieved. We have an Elected Mayor and Cabinet with clear ambitions for the Borough. We are already attracting more businesses to the area including SMEs and international companies, and are creating new jobs. We already have business parks at Cobalt and Quorum, and we are developing plans for the north bank of the River Tyne to provide opportunities for offshore energy, green technology and advanced engineering.  Together, we are determined to deliver high performing local services and make a success of our communities and economy, and with an agreed Local Plan there is a fifteen year vision for how the Borough might look in the medium to long term. We are now seeking two highly qualified and experienced individuals to turn our plans and ambitions into reality.

Working with partners will be critical, be that within the Council, local businesses, developers, the education sector, the Local Enterprise Partnership, Nexus (our local transport body) and others with an interest in the prosperity of North Tyneside. The Council is part of the North of Tyne Combined Authority and these roles will play a critical role in that relationship.

As our new Service Manager Inclusive Economy and Business Growth you will be responsible for delivering our priorities around inclusive and green economic growth and turning these into deliverable projects and activities that benefit our residents and businesses. Alongside this you will represent the Council’s economic interests regionally, nationally and internationally, securing funding and investment that delivers sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

We are seeking candidates with strong leadership skills and who are able to operate at a strategic level and influence decision making. Candidates will need to demonstrate a practical background in regeneration and economic development and will be able to speak credibly to the development and business community and develop the right partnerships to bring prosperity to our Borough and support the future of our successful economy.

This role reports to the Head of Regeneration and Economic Development and will play a leading role in the future of North Tyneside Council.  For more information visit www.northtynesideleadership.com or talk to our advising consultants Anna Scaife (0113 416 6772), Philip Emms (0113 205 6078) or Gary Evans (0113 205 6080).
