We are looking for an extremely organised Assessment and Case Coordinator with high levels of attention to detail to join the multi-faceted SEN Team here at Camden. The main objective for the post holders are to understand and synthesise reports into a document which can be easily understood an implemented by professionals who will be supporting the young person. You will support the implementation of the Children and Families Act (2014), the assessment process and the finalising of Education, Health & Care plans for children and young people with special educational needs. This will include executing the corporate decisions of Camden Council in its execution of its statutory Special Educational Needs (SEN) responsibilities in accordance with the Education Act of 1996 and in line with the SEN Code of Practice (2015) and the Children and Families Act (2014).

The ideal candidate will support the SEN Team achieve its statutory duties by meeting tight deadlines and fulfilling your role by liaising with schools, early year’s settings and FE colleges to ensure the continuum of a young person’s special educational needs are being met and is reviewed annually. You will have the responsibility of a cohort of learners with EHC Plans covering a particular key stage and support these families access appropriate support as required.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

To be considered for this post you must be an effective communicator who possesses the ability to interact with people all levels including parents, carers, Head Teachers, SENCos, Health and Social Care Practitioners and others as required. The successful candidate will work in one of two teams with a primary focus on a particular age group of 0 -14 year olds thereby developing both a general knowledge and skill set in relation to SEND and also developing this further in relation to provision and transitions specific to the age groups. These include but are not limited to pre-school, nursery, primary and secondary. You will work under the direction of the Senior SEN Officer in collaboration with colleagues in the Legal department and across all allied services to plan and prepare for the local authority’s case in response to internal complaints, the Local Government Ombudsman or Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal with regard to decisions on provision/placements.
