An Excellent Opportunity…

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

Brent Council is looking for a creative and experienced regeneration practitioner to join our Regeneration Team. We want to hear from people passionate about the role that regeneration can play in positively changing places. Brent is one of the most dynamic outer London boroughs. We want to maximise the benefits of investment for inclusive growth and create positive impacts for our communities.

Central to the role will be a focus on place-making and promotion of opportunity areas and inclusive growth in order to attract investment and catalyse regeneration in the borough. The successful candidate will lead on the development of a masterplan for the Church End Growth Area. Proposals are for the redevelopment of several sites in Church End’s town centre, including provision of a new market square, and mixed use regeneration opportunities to make more efficient use of low density industrial land for new housing, employment uses and infrastructure.

Project management of architects, multi-disciplinary design teams and associated budgets, engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including extensive public consultation with local residents and businesses, will be essential to establishing a new vision to make Church End a more attractive neighbourhood to live and work and the planning framework required to ensure development is sustainable and benefits new and existing communities alike.

The Person

Working on a range of projects from inception through to delivery, you will be able to bid for funding, manage programmes and complex projects, work effectively across the organisation, consult and communicate with the community and businesses to deliver high quality outcomes. Delivery of the Church End masterplan will require the ability to work within a rigorous project management framework and engage with a wide variety of stakeholders. You will be interested in working at all levels and in various locations and thrive under pressure.

Degree or equivalent in a property, planning or other related discipline (or to be able to demonstrate an equivalent education through experience of a similar role).

Closing Date: 1 November 2020 (23:00)
