Where you live can really affect how you live. Affordable, suitable and decent housing is one of the top priorities in our Council Plan. The COVID-19 pandemic has shone a spotlight on the importance of our housing services as we responded to accommodating our rough sleepers and the increasing number of households presenting as homeless. We need to adapt and transform our services through co-production to ensure we meet the future housing needs of Dorset residents, and you will play a vital role in shaping this vision.

Working collaboratively with council colleagues and external stakeholders you will oversee our ambitious Building Better Lives Programme, a joint initiative with health partners to deliver health services, social care accommodation and affordable housing. All of this feeds into our housing strategy which you will be instrumental in leading on. You will also lead the Community Safety Team as part of the wider partnership, with a focus on improving housing and health and wellbeing outcomes for key parts of our community.

You’ll have a strong track record of leading local authority housing services alongside collaborative partnership working across the public, private and voluntary sectors. You’ll have experience of leading large-scale transformation and delivering exceptional, safe and responsive services. Influential, tenacious, financially astute and politically sensitive, you’ll have the credibility and communication skills to unite our dedicated team and partners.
