Kirklees Council seeks an exceptional individual to coordinate the multi-agency Safeguarding Channel Panel, here in Kirklees.
‘Channel’ is a voluntary, confidential safeguarding programme which provides support to people who are vulnerable to being drawn into terrorism. It operates across the country through a Local Authority-chaired multi-agency panel, and is not any form of criminal or civil sanction. The aim of the programme is to safeguard people from the harm which radicalisation can cause, before they come to harm or become involved in criminal behaviour.
This role involves organising and coordinating the multi-agency Channel Panel ensuring that external and internal representatives attend each panel. Also ensuring that the agenda and minutes and papers are circulated to the multi-agency panel members.
You will also have responsibility for updating the Channel Information Management System - (CMIS) and the commissioning of Intervention Providers (IP’s)
For this role you will need to possess demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the UK Government Counter- Terrorism, & Security Act 2015 and Prevent Duty guidance.
As the Channel Coordinator you will have excellent communication and IT skills with an ability to interpret complex data.
Experience and ability to work with faith groups, statutory and voluntary sector organisations as well as good partnership working.
Please note that this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check
The successful candidate will also be required to undergo national security clearance.
37hours a week
Fixed Term Contract 24-Months to cover a secondment
