This is an exciting time for children's social work in Essex. We are seeking a motivated and passionate individual to create conditions for success within a new and dynamic multi-disciplinary team providing a secondary role to front line Social Workers. The Team will be led by a Team Manager, with professionals in specialist areas, including drug and alcohol, domestic abuse, mental health and youth work.

Our pilot is due to go live in January 2021 and we are confident the impact you will have in being part of a team of multi- disciplinary professionals, contributing to making a greater difference to the lives of children and their families in Essex.

We will support our staff to have an understanding of a systemic theoretical framework and embrace excellent models of practice which underpin our interventions. Our staff have access to the right tools, equipment and resources and also the right supervision, training and learning opportunities they need to be strong practitioners.

Essex Social Care Academy (ESCA) is the only Local Authority team in the Country to be accredited by BASW as a CPD provider. We have invested in our workforce and created a positive environment for our social workers to make a difference and achieve change for our most vulnerable children and families through direct relationship-based social work practice.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Significant experience of working with individuals experiencing domestic abuse
  • Experience of identifying safeguarding concerns and reporting concerns in line with local policies and procedures
  • Experience of working with risk and the ability to provide advice on moving service users forward
  • Excellent understanding of domestic abuse on victims and their children
  • Understand principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children
  • Proven ability to maintain personal and professional boundaries
  • Work flexibly as part of a team
  • A good standard of general education
The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wide operational area including travelling around the county of Essex and beyond, transporting service users and their belongings and to be able to do so in an emergency. Driving licence and car or ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means is essential.

As part of employment with Essex County Council should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service. The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate.
