We’re supporting our clients as they adapt to a new world in the wake of COVID-19. We’re now recruiting for roles which will help our clients to deliver vital services and to resume business wherever possible.

Join us as a traffic & travel manager for Capita RE Highways, a joint venture between Capita and London Borough of Barnet, where you'll play an important role shaping the future of our business. We're in the middle of a transformation, remobilising our services to bring in new systems and policies so we can delight both customers and local residents.

As part of a friendly team, you’ll support the operations manager of traffic and travel in the overall delivery of parking design, controlled parking zones, road safety, sustainable travel management and schools travel planning services.

We’ll support you to develop yourself and you’ll have access to our newly designed suite of enhanced training products, as well as other learning and development opportunities. We’re looking for the right person for this role, so we don’t mind where you’re located, as long as you’re able to travel into Barnet to attend on-site and client meetings when needed for various projects. What you’ll be doing:

  • supporting the effective delivery of the service provided by the traffic and travel team
  • assisting in the management and monitoring of performance, including trends and forecasts
  • deputising for the operations manager in providing technical and strategic advice on service delivery matters when required
  • assisting the operations manager to prepare, monitor and deliver a three-year rolling service plan for the relevant service areas
  • supporting the delivery of key projects and programmes at a local, regional and national level
  • establishing and maintaining contact with appropriate stakeholders to ensure their views are reflected in the delivery of the service.

What we’re looking for:

  • a degree level education (or equivalent) with a professional qualification and industry experience
  • previous experience in a senior highways managerial position
  • experience of parking design, sustainable travel, area working and local scheme delivery
  • experience of quality control procedures and performance management
  • experience in financial and cost management including meeting growth targets
  • programme and project management experience.
