Join us as an operations manager (assets) for Capita RE Highways, a joint venture between Capita and London Borough of Barnet, where you'll play an important role shaping the future of our business. We're in the middle of a transformation, remobilising our services to bring in new systems and policies so we can delight both customers and local residents. As operations manager (assets), you’ll have a key influence on the strategic direction of our service.

It’s an exciting role where we’ll look to you to ensure highways projects are delivered against continuous improvement and innovation criteria within budget, timeframe and quality standards. We’ll support you to develop yourself and you’ll have access to our newly designed suite of enhanced training products, as well as other learning and development opportunities. We’re looking for the right person for this role, so we don’t mind where you’re located, as long as you’re able to travel into Barnet to attend on-site and client meetings when needed for various projects. What you’ll be doing:

  • taking overall responsibility for the service provided by the Asset team and their performance and relationships
  • managing and monitoring performance including trends and forecasts, implementing appropriate corrective actions where required to ensure the service delivers against performance targets
  • lead, motivate, train and develop the teams and individual staff to maintain an effective workforce capable of producing agreed and measurable outcomes for the service.
  • overseeing the overall delivery of all revenue and capital maintenance, routine operational works and cyclical programmes
  • creating and maintaining effective and regular contact with appropriate stakeholders to ensure their views are reflected in the delivery of the service
  • leading by example in the delivery of key projects and programmes at a local, regional and national level e.g. traffic management, highways asset management, sustainable travel and parking, compliance and enforcement and development control.

What we’re looking for:

  • a degree level education (or equivalent) Qualified to degree level or equivalent with a professional qualification
  • membership of a relevant professional institute
  • significant experience in performance managing highways term maintenance contracts and highways asset management
  • excellent customer and stakeholder relationship management skills
  • previous experience managing a team to deliver against specification and KPIs
  • experience in financial and cost management including meeting growth targets.
