About the role

This is a new exciting job opportunity to make a difference to people in Barnet. We are seeking a practitioner led scrutiny and advisory function for the Community Equipment Service, on behalf of both the Barnet Clinical Commissioning Group and the London Borough of Barnet adults and childrens service area. The role will be based in Barnet, working closely with nurses and therapists to loan specialist disability and nursing equipment to individuals in the community.

The Scrutiny role is a key role in providing successful patient outcomes to enhance independence. The overall aim is to provide:

  • Seamless, timely and coordinated pathways
  • A holistic patient centered service

Responsibilities:

Main responsibilities of this post include

  • Provide clinical support to prescribers with a focus on ensuring clinical effectiveness, best practice and delivering value for money.
  • Provide clinical expertise in the area of Pressure Care.
  • Processing equipment requests for patients in the community and checking clinical reasoning against eligibility criteria using IT systems
  • Work collectively with partner organisations and supplier
  • Identify development opportunities for service improvement through participation and involvement in local and central team meetings, supervision, training and other forums.
  • Support the service delivery and collection process in place to ensure the maximisation of opportunities 
  • To ensure efficient use of funding for equipment to mitigate spend outside of budgetary parameters.
  • Support provider to maintain 'fit for purpose' equipment catalogue and make sure authority receives value for money

About you

This is an important and rewarding role in supporting the provision of a smooth and efficient scrutiny and advisory function to the Community Equipment Service. You will need to be highly motivated, flexible and able to learn quickly and be able to provide constructive feedback to prescribers. In return for your commitment and expert skills, you will enjoy being part of a busy team with the satisfaction of knowing that you are making a real contribution in enabling patients to remain safe within their homes. If you have the following requirements this post could be for you:

  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area (Band 7 or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience of co-ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments

  • Experience of managing risks and reporting

  • Experience of creating and giving presentations to a varied group of internal and external stakeholders

  • Demonstrated capabilities to manage own workload and make informed decisions in the absence of required information, working to tight and often changing timescales
  • Experience of setting up and implementing internal processes and procedures
