Qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired
£38,690 - £41,604 per annum
UPR +1 SEN/2 SEN points
0.8FTE, Temporary Position until August 31st 2021
We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, as a temporary 0.8 position from January 1st 2020. The successful candidate will work within the Sensory Inclusion Service, which offers services to sensory impaired children and young people as part of Joint Arrangements between Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire Councils.
The role of Teacher of the Visually Impaired requires excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and the ability to work independently as well as contributing to the wider team within the Sensory Inclusion Service. The ability to be well organised and work to deadlines is essential.
Ideally, the successful candidate will hold the mandatory QTVI qualification although consideration would be given to a qualified, outstanding mainstream teacher.
A minimum of 3 years recent mainstream experience is essential.
Experience of supporting visually impaired children, their families and educational settings in a peripatetic support role is desirable. The appointed candidate will join a team of Teachers of the Visually Impaired and allied professionals working with sensory impaired children and young people with a range of sensory, learning and communication needs.
Due to the nature of this role you must be able to travel independently to meet the requirements of the post. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is required.
Appointment would be subject to successful references and an enhanced DBS check.
