Essex County Council continues to review its ways of working during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. We continue to work within adult social care with a focus on "digital first", where the default position is, where possible, for our staff to work from home (this is continuously reviewed). All candidates applying to Adult Social Care will be expected to join on a 12-week rota on a 6-day shift pattern and this will include some weekend work. However, we still promote flexible working and a flexible work pattern can be discussed. For further details please enquire with our resourcing team, alternatively working patterns can be discussed at interview.
This post carries an additional 6% flat rate allowance for rota'd working covering 8am-6pm Monday to Friday, weekends and Bank Holidays, shifts are 8:00 to 16:30 or 9:30 to 6pm with a 1 weekend in 4 to be worked as a max.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills within a well-functioning multidisciplinary team whose aim is to provide high quality holistic care to their patients and families, The post holder will take part in regular MDT planning meetings and will be supported by experienced staff within the Integrated Discharge Team.
Job Purpose
ECC Adult Social Care, through effective practice, is moving towards a transformational shift from a focus on long-term care support, to a model with four key principles: - prevention; early intervention; enablement and safeguarding.
This will enable people, their families and carers to access information and tools, live healthily and independently and for our function an opportunity to respond pro-actively to growing service demand in a sustainable way, within the financial constraints of the Council.
Social workers manage a caseload, including assessment of risk and purposeful intervention through direct work, commissioned services and review. Quality assuring interventions and balancing need with finance.
Educated to degree level with current registration and the ability to demonstrate practice in accordance with professional standards. Experience of developing strong working relationships with partners, other agencies and the voluntary sector to deliver improved outcomes.

As part of employment with Essex County Council (ECC) should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service. The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate.
