About Us:

Working as part of Children’s Services will provide a challenging and rewarding career. We have high ambitions for the children and young people of Kensington and Chelsea.  We have formed a bi-borough Children’s Services team with colleagues from Westminster City Council. Our services, which include education, family services and safeguarding, have been rated Outstanding by Ofsted, and our drive to be the best doesn’t stop there.  By working with us, you will have the opportunity to make a difference to young people in one of the world’s most diverse cities.

If you would like to play a part in this unique team, please take a look at the vacancies below.

The Role:

An exciting opportunity as a Children’s Rights Advocate working with children and young people who are undergoing the Child Protection Process as well as children and young people who are LAC/ Care Leavers and Section 17, has arisen within RBKC Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Service.  This is a full-time role and we require an Advocate who is motivated, and child centred.

The role is to help a child(ren) or young person in their understanding of Local Authority processes, as well as their rights and assist with supporting them with any concerns that may arise. The Children’s Advocate will also ensure that the child is aware of the complaints procedure and will help them in accessing this should they wish. They may also attend various meetings with the child in a supporting or advocacy role.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

We are seeking a Children’s Advocate who is passionate about achieving positive outcomes for children who are in care, through high quality engagement.  We welcome someone who is innovative, hardworking, committed and enthusiastic and who also enjoys working with children and young people.

Role Requirements:

The opportunity is open to either qualified or unqualified practitioners who can demonstrate that they have knowledge of the challenges facing children in care/ Care Leavers and those who are part of the Child Protection. The successful candidate will work closely with a range of professionals such as social workers, the virtual school and be part of the participation team. We need someone with an ability to work flexibly to attend and participate in meetings and looked after children’s events.

We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs. Your recruitment information will advise if your remit extends beyond RBKC.

We will primarily contact candidates by e-mail throughout the recruitment process, please monitor your email junk / spam folder as our system generated emails may be allocated to these folders by your email settings.

We engage our staff with a variety of learning types including face-to-face and virtual learning because we want to ensure our staff understand our values and behaviours, grow their skills and develop their careers.
