Job Details

Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Because we’re not just home to the UK’s fast-growing economy. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today and we’re making radical social change a reality. As the Chief Executive’s Project and Policy Officer, you’ll play a pivotal role at the heart of the Council, working on a variety of projects to tackle deep rooted challenges and ensure Camden is a place where nobody gets left behind.

The CEO’s mission is to lead an ambitious and diverse organisation, delivering a vision for a Camden that is fairer, more sustainable and more equal. At the core of this is a sense of a humane, relational Council, engaging the voices and priorities of our communities. This vision honours the strengths of the organisation but also presents a strong case for change, including the development of a 21st century, post-bureaucratic organisation.

Amongst other things, this requires greater openness, transparency, and an ability to work at a cadence and pace that matches the ambition and creativity of Camden's citizens.

To make this shift requires a move to a human-centred design mindset, and towards digital services which apply the culture, practices, and processes of the internet-era to respond to citizens' raised expectations.

The role of the Chief Executive’s Policy and Project Officer will be at the heart of this mission.

You don’t need to come from a traditional policy background. You will have an understanding of, and insight into, front line services and will be able to apply your knowledge of our communities to ground strategic projects in the lived experience of residents.

You will by motivated by a desire to reduce inequality and injustice. You will be passionate about public services, always asking how they can work in ways that make sense to our citizens. You will support the Chief Executive to push the organisation to match the ambition of our communities and expand the managerial imagination.

You will, as part of a team across the Chief Executive’s Office, Cabinet Office and with colleagues in Corporate Strategy and Policy Design work to drive priority projects that accelerate changes to meet our Camden 2025 ambitions.
