The Partnerships Team works across Richmond and Wandsworth Councils to support relationships with internal and external partners at a strategic level, to ensure residents and businesses receive an ambitious, efficient and joined-up service. This can be by forming new strategic partnerships, developing working arrangements, and hosting events which bring key partners together. To be able to do this, you will have to understand the needs of the residents, the requirements of the Council’s Corporate Planning processes and the direction of travel for the major public sector partners. You will also need to recognise which key partners should engage with the subject.
The role will bring you into close working with leaders, councillors, senior officers. You will often be the junior colleague among leaders with an unfamiliar subject, and you will quickly need to understand the level they work at and how to get them appropriate, timely, clear and accurate information so they can make decisions.
You will support the delivery of a number of initiatives and sometimes lead new projects. You should be a confident communicator, in person and in writing, and an effective team player.
This is not a job for someone who likes to focus on one task at a time. Frequently, the work will be reactive to key needs in the boroughs, so you need to be flexible in how you work, and regularly re-prioritise what you work on. The current pandemic brings a range of immediate and urgent tasks to this role.
To effectively carry out this role you will use your understanding of how local authorities make decisions and how to work within a political environment. You need to have good analytical skills and be a strong report writer. You will also be able to translate complex issues in to short, community focused messages which you can communicate both in writing and by presenting to groups.
