About the Role

ECC have undertaken work to understand how we can better meet the needs of those with Physical and Sensory Impairments in Essex. This has identified that we need to ensure there are improved housing solutions available, this post will be critical in ensuring we are able to address this and will be working with colleagues to ensure this work contributes to the wider activity to improve outcomes for those with Physical and Sensory needs.

ECC has an ambitious Independent Living Housing Programme to provide circa 700 new homes for Older People. We are now scoping the future Programme for adults with Physical and Sensory Impairments (PSI). The postholder will lead the strategy and policy development of the PSI Independent living Programme. The post holder will work with commissioners to establish demand and map services to develop an agreed approach to supported living accommodation. This work will form part a Programme which aims to transform how those with PSI needs are supported.

With good experience and knowledge of supported housing for vulnerable people, the post-holder will work collaboratively to influence and shape the future strategic direction of the programme. The post holder will also work closely with Children with Disabilities teams to ensure solutions are available across all ages including planning well for those transitioning from Children's to Adult services.

Your responsibilities will also include:

* Responsible for successful strategic policy development of the Independent Living programme for Adults with PSI, to secure a plan of housing growth of additional homes for vulnerable people across the county

* Develop, monitor and review relevant Independent Living policies and procedures using industry and peer good practice methodologies

* Work positively and collaboratively, building wide internal and external networks, offering constructive solutions to progress the programme

* Responsible for cascading the programme vision and translating these into delivery objectives which support the Strategic Aims of the Council

About You

To apply, you'll need to have knowledge of delivering / commissioning housing solutions and good practice and industry excellence in supported housing for vulnerable people.

You will also need to be able to evidence experience of continuing professional development in line with Housing qualifications such as the CIH level 3 certificate in housing practice.

Your approach must also be innovative, alongside a track record of delivery within timescales.
