The successful candidates will be able to work to communications strategies and to deliver their objectives for this fast-moving unitary authority.
One post will be to support our Public Health and skills teams - up to March 2022. The other will support our digital services team up to October 2021.
The role for our Public health and skills post includes:
- Supporting a return to economic prosperity by promoting the benefits and opportunities of apprenticeships, skills and adult learning to college/school leavers and the older workforce
Support residents reduce the spread of covid19 by clearly promoting public health:
- messages to different audiences and in line with government guidance
The role for the digital services post includes:
- Someone who can tell the story of York’s pioneering approach to technology and digital services, from the city’s unrivalled broadband connectivity to our place at the forefront of SMART Transport.
For both roles, there’s rarely a typical day. You will answer calls from journalists, edit videos and social media content which will be viewed by tens of thousands of residents, respond sensitively to social media queries and comments, and have daily contact with the senior officers and politicians.
We need a highly organised, cool-headed candidate with the flexibility to work in a team balancing on ongoing response to the pandemic with telling the stories which will help inspire York’s recovery. In this short-term contract, we need someone with relevant prior experience in a fast-paced communications role.
You’ll be working with Senior Communications Managers, to develop and deliver marketing and communications campaigns targeting different audiences across York.
You’ll be expected to produce high quality communications that draw on available audience insight, evaluating your work and learning from the best in the sector.
You’ll be part of a busy and supportive team which will encourage and further your can-do attitude and your flair for comms.
You’ll build on our strong relationships with other organisations to maximise the reach and impact of our messaging during the Covid-19 pandemic.
You’ll also work with contractors to ensure our exacting standards are met.
We expect a high level of written English, and ideally we’d like applicants to have relevant experience in communications, editorial or marketing.
This post is deemed as politically restricted. As designated politically restricted officers, employees will not be allowed to undertake certain activities. Please refer to the guidance attached for further information.
