The role for the digital services post includes:

For both roles, there’s rarely a typical day. You will answer calls from journalists, edit videos and social media content which will be viewed by tens of thousands of residents, respond sensitively to social media queries and comments, and have daily contact with the senior officers and politicians.

We need a highly organised, cool-headed candidate with the flexibility to work in a team balancing on ongoing response to the pandemic with telling the stories which will help inspire York’s recovery. In this short-term contract, we need someone with relevant prior experience in a fast-paced communications role.

You’ll be working with Senior Communications Managers, to develop and deliver marketing and communications campaigns targeting different audiences across York.

You’ll be expected to produce high quality communications that draw on available audience insight, evaluating your work and learning from the best in the sector.

You’ll be part of a busy and supportive team which will encourage and further your can-do attitude and your flair for comms.

You’ll build on our strong relationships with other organisations to maximise the reach and impact of our messaging during the Covid-19 pandemic.

You’ll also work with contractors to ensure our exacting standards are met.

We expect a high level of written English, and ideally we’d like applicants to have relevant experience in communications, editorial or marketing.
