This isn’t a role for a legal fence-sitter. It’s an opportunity for an experienced Lawyer to lead, advise and make decisions that enable great things to happen for Wiltshire.

It’s an exciting time for us as we progress with plans to transform our entire organisation so that we emerge from the pandemic stronger, fitter and more agile and so that we’re able and ready to create the best possible future for our economy, our communities and our residents.

As Director of Legal & Governance you will provide strategic leadership to create modern and innovative legal and governance services.

You will act as the Council’s Solicitor and principal legal adviser and discharge the statutory duties of the Monitoring Officer, ensuring that the Council fulfils its lawful obligations, statutory duties, and performs its functions and activities in accordance with the law and the principles of good governance. You will also ensure that there are effective corporate governance arrangements in place through the leadership and management of a range of corporate services to make that happen. All the while, edging us towards creating an even better Wiltshire.
