Salary: 1-6 months £19,698, rising to £20,493 after 6 months and then £22,627 for the final 12 months of the scheme. 
Contract: 2 years fixed term position as part of the NYCC / Ryedale District Council graduate programme 
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week

We now have an exciting opportunity for a graduate to join our Technology, Communications and Business Transformation Team as a Business Transformation Trainee. 

The Business Transformation Team is part of the Communications, Technologies and Business Transformation Team which reports directly to our Head of Service. We are a small team of 3 Transformation Leads, one Transformation Officer (Technical) and a project support officer.

The team is responsible for making the Council more efficient and effective by:

·     Identifying strategic opportunities for improvement

·     Planning and implementing projects to enhance the Council’s services

·     Linking with specialists across the Council to ensure that improvement projects meet business needs, and can be fully adopted

·     Applying technology to enhance Council operations and improve access and services for citizens

·     Instilling a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across the Council

We get involved in all levels and types of change, from planning and tracking the Corporate Programme, through making our market places and town centres Covid secure, implementing the corporate suite of Microsoft 365 solutions,  to implementing a new staff feedback and recognition system. We are valued as the change experts in the authority and recognised for the wide range of skills and experience we bring to the organisation.

We have an exciting few years coming up as we work to shape and transform our organisation through delivery of our IT and Workplace strategies and support Ryedale District Council in responding to the inevitable change arising from Local Government Reorganisation for North Yorkshire and York – the largest change to impact this organisation in decades.

Working in the Transformation Team you will be at the heart of the organisation. Unlike larger organisations where you may play a relatively minor role in a specialised field, working in a small change team means you will be called on to apply your initiative, roll up your sleeves, quickly grasp the elements of a service or issue and apply your new found skills to delivering a solution. The Graduate Trainee – Business Transformation will utilise their technical knowledge and analysis skills to support delivery of the IT strategy, gathering and analysing business requirements, re-engineering processes, configuring and exploiting system functionality in the transformation of services. Whilst the role is expected to start in a support capacity, progression to end to end delivery of projects will be encouraged.

The role will require an effective communicator who can engage tactfully with individuals and teams to identify requirements and current working practices. This role will be required to analyse IT system functionality and identify how that functionality can be used to meet existing or future business need. They must be able to manage their own time and influence that of others to ensure delivery of tasks to deadline. Attention to detail and effective presentation skills, both written and verbal are essential.

Essential criteria for this Graduate opportunity: Educated to degree level.

Desirable criteria for this role: Prince 2; ITIL
