About the Role

This is a community-based role with a 'hub' in Colchester. You will become a partner of the local community in which our residents live; connecting Adults to their community and working with universal services.

Becoming an expert in the services within the local community and an advocate for promoting strengths, you will work exclusively with Adults who have a learning disability and/or Autism and their carers.

A can-do attitude is a must, you will be passionate about person centred work and supporting adults to maximise their independence and achieve person centred outcomes. Openness to innovation is integral to this work, you will need to think outside the box and identify new ways of working and supporting others.

You will be working collaboratively with Statutory and non-statutory organisations, excellent communication skills are essential for this role.

The Opportunity

Essex County Council (ECC) is developing a pioneering new Early Intervention model as part of a transformational shift which focusses on prevention and enablement. We are looking for innovative support workers to join the newly formed Local Linked Support Team and who want the chance to develop their career in one of the largest and most dynamic local authorities in the UK.

You will work exclusively with Adults who have a learning disability and/or Autism and their carers.

About You

You'll bring a strong ability to build effective relationships with adults, families and other organisations. You will have the drive and passion to want to make a difference, and a willingness to learn. Ideally you will have some experience of activity-based work with adults and some knowledge of legislative and policy guidance applicable within social care settings.

This role involves travelling around Essex. A driving licence and car - or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means - is essential. However, given the current pandemic Essex County Council continues to review its ways of working during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. We continue to work within adult social care with a focus on "digital first", where the default position is, where possible, for our staff to work from home (this is continuously reviewed).

All candidates applying to Adult Social Care will be expected to join on a 12-week rota on a 6-day shift pattern and this will include some weekend work. However, we still promote flexible working and a flexible work pattern can be discussed.
