About the Role
Working to support adults, and their families, who have complex social needs and are more vulnerable as a result of disability, exclusion, or diminished capacity, you'll maximise their potential to live independently.
With case work focusing on the most complex and challenging adult cases, you'll ensure that adults and their families are safeguarded. You'll share ideas and best practice, providing specialist advice as part of a multi-disciplinary team sharing your knowledge as a Social Worker.
We currently have an opportunity for Social Workers, within our Mid Essex area.
Our Mid Essex area is at the centre of our county covering the Braintree, Chelmsford, Witham and Maldon areas. With the only City in the County and rural villages it is a diverse locality to work in. Bordering all other areas of the county you will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues across Essex County Council. This is also one of our most connected area of the county, with excellent travel links including direct trains to London.
The Team - Direct Payments
The Direct Payments team complete reviews for Direct Payment users across Essex County Council. The team work with older adults, people with learning disabilities and physical disabilities.

To apply you should be a qualified and experienced social worker with a current Social Work England registration. This role involves travelling around Essex. A driving licence and car - or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means - is essential.
However, given the current pandemic Essex County Council continues to review its ways of working during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. We continue to work within adult social care with a focus on "digital first", where the default position is, where possible, for our staff to work from home (this is continuously reviewed).
Sorry, newly qualified social workers will not be considered for this position.
Please note that Essex County Council has determined that the off-payroll working rules will apply to this assignment and where a worker elects to provide their services through an intermediary (such as a personal services company) then income tax and primary national insurance contributions will be deducted at source from any payments made to the intermediary.
As part of employment with Essex County Council should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service. The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate.
